Welcome to the College of Charleston’s Department of Theatre & Dance, located in the beautiful and historic city of Charleston, SC. Our department, housed within the School of the Arts, offers two undergraduate majors: a BA in Theatre and a BA in Dance, both with multiple concentration areas to provide exceptional training for a variety of career paths.
As part of an historic institution built upon a liberal arts foundation, our department provides a rich curriculum allowing you to focus on your passion while making connections across the many courses you will take at the College. Many of our students choose to double major in a variety of disciplines, and our curriculum allows for maximal opportunities to pursue different areas of interest. We guide you in developing your sense of self and place in the world while offering rigorous training, close mentorship, and a balance between theoretical and realized production work.
Our department’s faculty are truly dedicated to providing you with high impact learning experiences that push you to think critically and pursue excellence in all areas. We provide small class sizes and individual attention. There are multiple performance/production opportunities beginning in your first semester at the College. Study abroad, independent study, and internship opportunities are also available in theatre and dance.

In addition, you will find information about admissions, financial aid, our upcoming scholarship day, important links and contact information, and further information about our concentrations and focus areas available within the Theatre and Dance majors.
We hold Zoom info sessions multiple times throughout the semester for interested students to reach out and ask questions. If you would like to join us, please email Miles Boinest at boinestdm@cofc.edu for an invitation.
Our Talent Scholarship Day is Saturday, January 28th, 2023. The deadline for registrations is Monday, January 23rd, 2023. Please see below for more information.
If you are in the area and would like to schedule an in-person tour and meeting, please let us know. We don’t have a set day for these and can work around your schedule.
